"The greatness
of a nation and its moral progress can be judged
by the way its animals
are treated." - Gandhi

Playful
Pups Retreat is owned and operated by Laurie Yost.
Our employees are Certified Pet Care Technicians, and all of our staff
members are thoroughly trained in canine first aid and CPR.
All of
the staff at Playful Pups Retreat are dog lovers and owners themselves.
Our Pack Leaders are chosen for their knowledge of dog behavior,
dependability, and their passion for dogs. Each employee receives
in-depth training in all areas of dog behavior and dog handling and
care. We are all dedicated to the health and
well-being of your pet at all times during their stay with us.
Our
staff is trained to recognize that each dog is an individual with very
different personalities. We get to know each and every dog and will
provide individual attention and training if needed. This, in
conjunction with a lot of exercise and pack socialization, will all
contribute to a fun and stress free stay at Playful Pups Retreat.

This is Bailey, our sweet little Pit Bull/ Lab
Cross. She was rescued from living in a flower bed
when she was only 10 weeks old. As you can see she now
sleeps in the bed! She is the most loyal, intelligent and
beautiful girl and is a wonderful ambassador for the Pit
Bull breed! |

Gracie, my beloved rottie and my shadow... I cannot go
anywhere without her attached to my hip. She was
rescued from being tied to a tree when she was only 5 months
old. Her previous owners did not realize how much work
a puppy was and did not want her messing up their new house, hmmmm, imagine that! She talks to us with her
"grumbles" and she more than any of my dogs knows when I am
feeling sick or sad and always knows how to make me feel
better! And no, she is NOT Spoiled! |

Mickey is the cutest, but naughtiest, little Chow Chow!
The first picture is her when she was just a wee little
baby! The second was after the "Chow Metamorphosis"
after she changed into this beautiful fur ball! She came
from a not so great breeder in TN. Just goes to show that
you may think you are buying from a "good" breeder but in
all actuality you are often buying from a puppy mill as we
believe we may have done with Mickey. We still love
her tremendously though! How could anyone deny that
FACE? |

This is our baby girl, Emma (a.k.a. Emma Roo because she
sometimes hops like a kangaroo). If you come in to the shop
regularly you have probably already met her. We
rescued this beautiful little Pit Bull on March 2nd, 2008
and she is the sweetest little pup ever! She is 9
months old and is the fastest three legged dog ever!
She can run and run and loves to chase her favorite frisbee.
She does not let her birth defect stop her, unless she is
tired then mommy has to carry her. Stop in to say
hello and get some puppy kisses! (Emma usually works Tuesday
through Saturday) |

Falco, is a huge Akita, his official Now Wear This!
title is "head of security" and we do feel for anyone he
would ever have to "secure". However on the
other hand our staff certainly feels safer on days when
Falco reports for work! He was rescued from a life
tied to a telephone pole! He really is a teddy bear,
don't let that rough exterior fool you! |
